Lumens vs. watts
Watts (W) indicate electrical power consumption, while lumens (lm) indicate light output. When comparing LED lights, lumens are therefore more useful than wattage alone.

Lumens, abbreviated lm, indicate how much visible light a light source emits. The more lumens a light emits, the greater its total light output.

Lumens per watt, lm/W, indicate luminous efficacy. A higher lm/W means the light produces more light output for each watt it consumes and may therefore be more energy-efficient.
Lumens measure the total light output of a light source, while lux measure the light falling on a given surface. This is why the right lighting for a space cannot be determined from lumens alone.
